Will it be a volcanic Ash set at T in the Park?
Opportunistic heading for Northern Irish act
There have been a rash of new bands added to the T in the Park line-up this week that it can be easy to overlook some of them, so we’ll try and take some time to catch up with the latest names.
And on a day when UK airports have been closed due to volcanic ash in the air that is moving south from Iceland, is there any other band we could examine?
A decade ago, the addition of Ash to the line-up at T in the Park would have caused great excitement but the band’s fortune has been on the wane in recent years. The move by the band to release a single every fortnight was heralded by fans but seen by non-fans as being opportunistic and a desperate move to grab attention.
To be fair though, the quality of the singles that we have heard has been good. Not quite the early Ash pop tracks or the return to form of the ‘Free All Angels’ or ‘Meltdown’ albums but certainly deserving of better recognition than what they received.
It could be an interesting set from Ash, as you would think they will play some of their recent hits but most of the people going to see them will be looking to hear the classics. With Supergrass announcing they are splitting up, there is a space for a Britpop era band to get a festival crowd singing and dancing.
Ash have enough great songs in their arsenal to turn in a set of volcanic proportions!
