Sleigh Bells slay SXSW, Primavera to follow
And Coachella and London and Yeasayer tour then the world!
We’re still on the prowl for the best of SXSW and the acts that are going to come into your life very shortly. The latest band that we really like the sound of is Sleigh Bells. They don’t appear to be doing anything new but they sure are doing something we like.
‘A/B Machines’ is the sound of organised chaos, always rhythmic and pulsating, not a million miles away from M.I.A. (then you learn M.I.A. has been working with the duo on a number of projects), so that all makes perfect sense.
One of the major things about the act is that they seem to take 60’s melodic pop and then charge it up with as much distortion as they can find. Why, that’s two of our favourite things right there mashed together so you can colour us happy. And when you add in the fact that they’ll be playing Primavera….consider us there!
If you aren’t going to Primavera but you are based in London, you can catch the live performance later this month as Sleigh Bells have three gigs lined up:
23rd March @ Madame Jo Jo’s
25th March @ Notting Hill Arts Club
26th March @ Koko
So you’ve no excuse for not catching them in London at the end of this month!
We can’t wait to hear some official sounds from the band but we get the feeling they may not be tidying up that distortion any time soon.
