Ms Sandoval gives us hope for Primavera
Warm inventions and warm weather – perfect!
It can be easy to see why some people don’t take to Hope Sandoval but we don’t buy into the aloofness or attitude problems that some people associate with her. We don’t know her, so we can’t really comment but neither do so many other people either!
Just because you don’t come on stage primping and preening like Marc Bolan doesn’t mean you are an insular being and hey, its horses for courses. And frankly, when you can sing like Hope Sandoval, we are likely to give you a little bit of leeway.
The latest album from Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions is ‘Through The Devil Softly’, which was released in 2009. A whopping eight years between their last record had certainly built up expectations but the critical response to the album was certainly favourable.
Sandoval can also be heard on the latest Massive Attack album and her vocals there were as instantly recognisable and likeable as at any point in her career. Her most recent personal album doest deviate from that sensation as well.
Although Sandoval will get most of the focus in her act, the band features an ex member of My Bloody Valentine as well. Colm Ó Cíosóig was a founding member of that band but he is an integral part of the Warm Inventions with song-writing and production credits to his name.
There are plenty of acts to get excited about at Primavera but Hope Sandoval is definitely worth seeing if you are heading to Barcelona.
