More video footage from Pavement at the Barrowlands
You can’t beat a good reunion show
We’ve already given you our initial views and three video’s from the Pavement Barrowlands gig but we don’t want to stop there. Not when we captured much more footage from the gig and enjoyed ourselves.
With so many bands reforming nowadays, it is inevitable that comparisons will be made and it all depends on what regard you gave the band first time around. Looking around the internets today, it appears some people were of the opinion that the reunion show wasn’t as good as the Pixies reunion tour.
It’s easy to see why some folk are saying that but it’s not as if its fact. For us, we preferred Pavement and their music to the Pixies and as much as enjoyed the Pixies reunion, the Pavement show was the one we were waiting on (and we’ll sidestep Sonic Youth for the moment).
First up, ‘Cut Your Hair’:
There are not too many big shows happening in the Barrowlands these days so it was good to see two big shows in the space of a week. The Pavement shows came hot on the heels of two nights of LCD Soundsystem at the famous venue.
There is still scope for bands playing at the Barrowlands so hopefully there may be another spell of bands playing there. We like the Academy and the O2 but there is something about the Barras that means when you have a good gig, it invariably turns into a great evening.
‘Stop Breathing’:
‘Father To The Sister of A Thought’
As we said in our previous post, from all of the Pavement back catalogue, ‘Spit On A Stranger’ is one of our favourites songs so were delighted it was part of the set. See if you agree here!
For now, we’ll leave it with ‘Range Life’, another track in the evening where Malkmus changed the lyrics from the recorded version. See if you can make out the reference to the Silver Jews in this version of the song.
We’ve still got a few more Pavement songs in the tank to come, so you may want to check back before and during the weekend but hopefully you’ll enjoy these songs.
