Blood Red Shoes fire it up

No tricky second album for this duo

It is hard to think that is around 5 years Blood Red Shoes first hit the scene but here we are in 2010 and the band have just released their second album, ‘Fire Like This’.

We’d have preferred more material from the duo in that time but the new record is proving to be worth the wait, they’ve come back with more of the good stuff.

The vocal interplay and fiery passion has been a major focal point of the band’s music but new songs like ‘Light It Up’ and ‘Count Me Out’ take them a bit further. We don’t want to trot out a trite line about how they have matured but given that the band members have added a few years since they broke out, that is inevitable.

They are a few slower moments on the record, which adds a lot more colour and shade to the bands output than what has previously been the case, making it a more rounded effort.

Those who like bands to change their template with every new record are not going to enjoy this one but for those who appreciate a progression should give this a spin.

The band are currently on tour at the moment stopping off at all major points in the next fortnight. With a bit of luck, we’ll catch them at King Tuts on the 10th of March and if we do, we’ll give you the lowdown on the live-set.

If we do catch them, we hope to hear this song during the evening:
