Black Keys are a turn at T in the Park

First Balado adventure for the boys

The latest announcements for this years T in the Park have been made and well…we somehow made it past Shed Seven.

The thought of them playing live would make any sane person want to chew off their own ears but thankfully, it’s not all terrible comedy acts being announced.

The Black Keys are a duo that are no stranger to tearing up and down Scotland but they have never performed at T in the Park before, so they’ll be making their Balado debut this summer. Thing is though, we’ve always associated the band with T as the first time we saw them was on the Friday night before T (back in the two day festival era) at the Glasgow Barfly alongside the Greenhornes.

What a way to start the weekend!

We’ve been big fans of the bluesy duo since then and we can only hope they get to play in a tent at T in the Park to allow them to conjure up some of their murky atmosphere. A bright sunshine setting just wouldn’t be right for The Black Keys.

They don’t really seem to fit in with the overall feel of T in the Park this year, the further edging towards mainstream continues unabashed, all the more upsetting with the absence of Connect in the Scottish festival circuit. However, hopefully they will gather enough people to create a fuss when the boys come on.

If you need woken out of a hungover stupor, this is exactly the sort of sound that will have you fully recharged.

We’re definitely fans of ‘Stack Shot Billy’ and who can blame him?

Will The Black Keys be on your list at T?
